Brazilian mining company seeks startups for 4 challenges, due 10/2

Deadline: October 2, 2020

A Brazilian mining company is seeking startups to transform and increase production chain, focusing on i) mining and beneficiation and ii) refining and smelting.

Nexa Resources is a $2.5B Brazilian mining company that produces, refines, processes, and sells zinc, copper, silver, lead, gold, and sulfuric acid. Nexa Resources serves chemical, petrochemical, rubber, pulp, metallurgy, mining, agricultural, and other sectors in Brazil. Specifically, they are seeking help in 4 areas:

  1. zinc and copper production
  2. management and elimination of tailings and effluents
  3. development of positive legacies
  4. greater efficiency and productivity

If you would like to submit a solution, please

1) Apply at Nexa site mininglab.com.br, and

2) Submit here and we'll try to to help you get status on your application.

From the Nexa manager leading the challenge: "even if a startup is not really sure they can effectively solve the challenge but they THINK they can, ask them to apply. We will be very happy to discuss details with them in the next stage of the challenge".

Just a hint, since Nexa's website is not user friendly: there are 4 challenges, which can be seen in the left hand side as you scroll down. The first one is 'Producing Zinc and Copper'. Once you click, details about that specific challenge are shown in the right hand side. Applications should not be sent to the STEX team, but through Nexa's website. Once you apply, please inform our STEX colleagues.
