Business Background:
The use of enzymes in P&G manufacturing processes leads to the presence of airborne enzyme particles in the production environment. The exposure of P&G employees to these airborne enzyme particles causes safety challenges as enzymes are hazardous materials which could lead to human sensitization. P&G employees who are working or passing through the impacted areas are required to be equipped with personal protection equipment (PPE), including helmets with a filtration and airflow system to ensure that there is no exposure to the enzymes. Removing or deactivating the enzymes will allow P&G to eliminate the exposure its people to these airborne enzyme particles, while moving to more optimized manufacturing cycles.
Business Challenge / Needs Definition:
The current raw material making process relies on a system where the finished powder (including enzymes) is filled, stored and then transported to the packing lines in movable containers. Despite having a balanced air flow and dust control in this area already it remains a challenge to eliminate and deactivate all airborne enzyme particles which are present. This is due to the fact that the size of these airborne enzyme particle is less than ten micrometers. Hence the challenge is to have a technology which is able to deactivate and reduce these very tiny airborne enzyme particles to ideally ZERO.
Specific needs to be met: Effective deactivation, reduction, or elimination of airborne enzymes particles (size: 10 micrometers).

The desired outcome is a pilot or partnership with P&G to show proof of concept (POC) of the solution that can be tested and validated at a pilot scale (lab or bench testing). If successful, the pilot solution or partnership could lead to a longer- term relationship across multiple markets.
The Ask:
P&G is looking for partners and solutions that support the deactivation, reduction, or elimination of airborne enzyme particles within production environments across operations. If a viable solution is found, P&G has the objective to execute a pilot in the Europe, which will be scaled if successful.
