THK, a global leader in manufacturing, is seeking startups to solve several manufacturing challenges to improve quality, cost and throughput of our products.

Use cases include the following:

  • To optimize heat treatment process that produces desired hardness and rigidity In our products.
  • To realize machining and grinding processes that enable tight dimensional control to sub-micron level.
  • To realize assembly process that Is capable of handling small (microns) to large components (meters) with high level of repeatability and reliability to complete the final product with the highest quality standard in the most efficient manner.

Relevant technologies include, but are not limited to:

  • Heat treatment
  • Dimensional control
  • Process and assembly automation
  • Dimensional and performance inspection
  • Advanced manufacturing including 3D printing, robotics, and high precision technologies
  • Quality control
  • OEE and OLE improvement

Potential next steps would be pilots at one of the manufacturing facilities in Japan as early as Q42021.
