Startup Speakers for Computationally-Assisted Materials Discovery Webinar 4/10/25

The MIT Startup Exchange team is seeking startups to present at the Startup Lightning talks of MIT’s Leading Edge Webinar - Computationally-Assisted Materials Discovery, taking place on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET (hyperlink). We are looking for 5 startups working on machine learning, AI, computational data science, advanced materials, nanotechnology, quantum materials & computing, and semiconductors to present at the webinar. 

Overview

The discovery and development of advanced materials are accelerating with the integration of computational tools and machine learning technologies. During this webinar, join MIT faculty members and leading experts to explore how various software techniques analyze, interpret, and store data, revolutionizing the materials discovery process—from initial design to real-world application. The webinar will also feature engaging presentations by MIT-connected startups showcasing innovative technologies.

Attendees will gain insights into advanced algorithms, data-driven approaches, and the future of automated material synthesis. From optimizing material properties to scaling innovation, this session will showcase the practical benefits of computational research.

 

Key topics will include:

  • The role of AI and machine learning in material innovation

  • Case studies in the successful design of novel materials

  • Future trends in materials research and potential industrial applications

 

Presentation format

-4-min pitches, followed by 1 min Q&A. 

-The audience will include senior executives and innovation leaders’, members of MIT’s Industrial Liaison Program (ILP). The event will be recorded and available to members and startups only.

-Selected startups will have the opportunity to connect with ILP members attending the event

If you are selected:

-Final decks will need to be submitted ~1 week prior.

-Presentation dry runs will need to be done roughly one to two weeks before the event.

Commitment to Event Participation

By accepting to participate in an MIT Startup Exchange live or virtual event you agree to adhere to the following: 

- Commitment to the day/time of the event and related commitments (e.g. dry run presentations, preparation call/meeting). 

- Commitment to the presentation and exhibition format/guidelines and deadlines, including but not limited to the submission of final presentation slides, signed consent form, requested company and speaker materials (bio, headshot, logo etc.)

- Commitment to completing the post-event feedback form by the noted deadline.

  • NOTE 2: priority during the selection process will be given to startups that have participated in an Assessment Call or have recently  provided an update to the MIT Startup Exchange team; as well as to startups who have not presented recently.
