There’s been growing interest from industry for materials innovation from MIT and MIT-connected startups. Corporates are asking for materials of increased performance, reduced cost/weight, or reduced carbon footprint. This MIT Startup Webinar on Materials will feature Chris Schuh, former head of MIT’s Materials Science and Engineering Department, giving a quick overview of materials innovation at MIT and current challenges in materials research, followed by lightning talks by MIT startups in advanced materials & formulation and sustainable materials and packaging. Then we’ll have a Q&A and discussion with the MIT startups on how they can work with corporates to solve some of their materials challenges.

The 2022 MIT Startup Ecosystem Conference is a celebration of entrepreneurship, offering a window into the exciting technology, projects, and research being led by the MIT community and beyond.

Throughout the day, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and innovation groups will come together to discuss strategy, partnerships, diversity, and community, among other topics. The event also features some the most promising startups emerging across campus at MIT.

The 2025 MIT Japan Conference will explore future research trends at MIT, highlighting breakthroughs in key areas such as Soft Materials and Mechanics, Biomedical Innovation, and the impact of Generative AI (GAI) on the Work of the Future. Additional sessions will focus on Quantum and Silicon Photonics, Nanotechnology in materials and additive manufacturing, and the latest Machine Learning and AI tools for chemical discovery. Advances in semiconductor technology, hydrogen innovation, and electrochemistry, as well as thermofluidic interfaces, will also be featured.
