Overview

The future of energy innovation is complex. MIT Startup Exchange is convening the third annual energy innovation event to discuss the latest advances in energy innovation from the perspective of industry, academia, venture, and startups in the MIT ecosystem. The workshop will cover innovation models, technologies, collaboration patterns, partnerships, and trends in energy tech, policy, commercialization, innovation, and startups. We especially seek digital perspectives (AI/ML, big data, IoT, blockchain, 3D printing).  

Join MIT Startup Exchange, the MIT Industrial Liaison Program, MIT faculty, MIT-connected startups, investors, and corporate innovators on Thursday, March 1, 2018, to explore how energy innovation is shaping society, business, and life as we know it. The target audience is the MIT innovation ecosystem, including faculty, students, startups, and ILP member companies.

Senior Director, MIT Corporate Relations

James E. Gado manages relations with US, European, and Middle Eastern companies with a focus on developing a broader MIT presence in the MENA region. Gado has oversight responsibility for the MIT Startup Exchange program and managers.

Gado comes to MIT after more than 25 years in the specialty materials and chemical industry. His experience spans the sectors of construction, microelectronics, automotive, and food/beverage packaging all on a global basis. The majority of his career was spent at W.R. Grace & Co., with positions also at American Cyanamid Company and Teradyne, Inc.

Gado has held leadership positions at the director level for mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, marketing, and research and development management. He has developed new business, both organically and via acquisition, across the globe including the emerging markets of China and India. His domestic investment experience includes collaboration with Grace/Horn Venture Partners.

Ariadna Rodenstein is a Program Manager at MIT Startup Exchange. She joined MIT Corporate Relations as an Events Leader in September 2019 and is responsible for designing and executing startup events, including content development, coaching and hosting, and logistics. Prior to working for MIT Corporate Relations, she worked for over a decade at Credit Suisse Group in New York and London, in a few different roles in event management and as Director of Client Strategy. Ms. Rodenstein has combined her experience in the private sector with work at non-profits as a Consultant and Development Director at New York Immigration Coalition, Immigrant Defense Project, and Americas Society/Council of the Americas. She also served as an Officer on the Board of Directors of the Riverside Clay Tennis Association in New York for several years. Additionally, she earned her B.A. in Political Science and Communications from New York University, with coursework at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico City, and her M.A. in Sociology from the City University of New York.
