The 2024 MIT Startup Ecosystem Conference brings MIT innovation & entrepreneurship resources together to showcase MIT’s rich startup ecosystem. The conference, organized by the MIT Startup Exchange, showcases fourteen startups affiliated with MIT startup resources across campus. Cooling towers are ubiquitous in industrial and commercial settings. They are critical pieces of equipment but also major sources of energy and water consumption. They are used across a wide range of applications, including power generation, manufacturing, chemical processing, and HVAC systems for large buildings and data centers.
At Infinite Cooling, we begin with TowerPulse, our advanced sensors and software package that leverages physics-informed machine learning to optimize cooling tower operations. TowerPulse enables real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance, ensuring optimal performance, reducing energy consumption, and minimizing operational downtime.
Building on this, our WaterPanel technology uses electrostatic fields to captures pure, demineralized water directly from cooling tower plumes. This innovative solution provides an alternative demineralized water source while eliminating visible plumes, helping facilities conserve water, lower costs, and reduce environmental impact. Together, these technologies address key sustainability and efficiency challenges in industrial cooling.

There’s been growing interest from industry for materials innovation from MIT and MIT-connected startups. Corporates are asking for materials of increased performance, reduced cost/weight, or reduced carbon footprint. This MIT Startup Webinar on Materials will feature Chris Schuh, former head of MIT’s Materials Science and Engineering Department, giving a quick overview of materials innovation at MIT and current challenges in materials research, followed by lightning talks by MIT startups in advanced materials & formulation and sustainable materials and packaging. Then we’ll have a Q&A and discussion with the MIT startups on how they can work with corporates to solve some of their materials challenges.
