MIT Academic innovator: "AI killer apps for Energy," Kalyan Veeramachaneni, Principal Research Scientist, MIT Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems
There’s been growing interest from industry for materials innovation from MIT and MIT-connected startups. Corporates are asking for materials of increased performance, reduced cost/weight, or reduced carbon footprint. This MIT Startup Webinar on Materials will feature Chris Schuh, former head of MIT’s Materials Science and Engineering Department, giving a quick overview of materials innovation at MIT and current challenges in materials research, followed by lightning talks by MIT startups in advanced materials & formulation and sustainable materials and packaging. Then we’ll have a Q&A and discussion with the MIT startups on how they can work with corporates to solve some of their materials challenges.
2019 MIT Startup Exchange Workshop: Sustainable Materials Innovation
December 3, 2019
MIT Startup Exchange presents its December Startup Workshop, centered around sustainable materials innovation. MIT Startup Exchange works to help create partnerships between over 1,800 MIT-connected startups and industry, represented by MIT Industrial Liaison Program (ILP) members. Today, there is a large and growing societal interest for greater sustainability in the material systems that provide for a modern life style. The call is across all industry sectors, and includes the entire value chain including raw materials, material processing, material uses, and end-of-cycle treatment/reuse. This represents a challenge and an opportunity for companies, and many MIT startups are developing and providing innovative technology and business model solutions. This workshop will present perspectives from industry leaders, academics, and corporate investors, while showcasing several MIT-connected startups in this field.
Robotics, Drones and Sensor Tech Innovation is a half-day event covering emerging technologies at the intersection of robotics, drones and sensors. Key themes include, but are not limited to: drone miniaturization, advanced manufacturing, touch for robotics (“the last mile”), drone applications (logistics, agriculture), collision avoidance / landscape sensing technologies, etc.
The future of energy innovation is complex. MIT Startup Exchange is convening the third annual energy innovation event to discuss the latest advances in energy innovation from the perspective of industry, academia, venture, and startups in the MIT ecosystem. The workshop will cover innovation models, technologies, collaboration patterns, partnerships, and trends in energy tech, policy, commercialization, innovation, and startups.
Update - Looking for a few more startups to participate in the exhibit portion of the conference and interact with ILP Corporate Members in attendance.
